Bismarck, 1964
Sculpture , 30 x 39 x 40 cm
plaster

This sculpture was made as Bernd Lohaus's entry for a competition to evoke a Monument for Otto von Bismarck, the 19th-century German statesman.  A classical bust form is minimalized and the head's shape is reminiscent of a helmet.  This plaster model would later also be cast in bronze.
